Do you lead a blessed life??

Today at church the pastor started a new series called The Blessed Life. Its a 4 part series and today it centered around being generous.  A lot of people give to charities once a year or when someone asks because they think it will make them a “better” person.  I am not saying that it is a bad thing to give to charities (it isn’t, its very good) but you should do it with the intent of just giving and not expecting anything back (i.e. good karma, rewards, high five when you tell someone etc). I mean who can top God when he gave his only son so that we could have everlasting life and not perish.  I do not think anything tops that!

In Acts 20:35 it says” I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak.  And remember the words of the Lord Jesus. that He said: It is more blessed to give than to recieve”

In Proverbs 11:25 it says “ the generous soul will be made rich, and the one who waters will also be watered themselves”

So if you hold everything to you and say its all “mine” you will never have enough. There will always be something else coming up that needs tending or fixed but if you blieve that you have inifinitly more room in yourself to give than the Lord will reward you and take care of you. 

I need to do more giving. I know I do and starting right now I will. I will give more time to my children who need me. I will give more help to my family when they need it. I will volunteer at church and give more for tithing when I can. There is more to me to give and I know God has been calling me to give.

Today’s Devotional- Girlfriends in God

Today the devotional centered around the words ” May she rest in peace” and how we usually hear that or use that when someone has died.  It goes on to talk about how we should use it in life also. Yes, God sent  Jesus Christ, to die for our sin so that we can rest in peace when we die, but God also gave His one and only Son so that we can rest in peace every minute of every day.   When we feel stressed or anxious, and we all do! We should take a moment and pray and hand it over to God.  Let him lead you where you are supposed to go and do not worry too much about the valleys in your life.

Romans 5:1 (NCV) “Since we have been made right with God by our faith, we have peace with God. This happened through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

It doesn’t mean you should just find peace with what your given but you should find peace with your personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  You can not bargain for peace but you will find peace when you give your sin over to Jesus Christ.  

It makes me feel a little better knowing that I have him on my side If your finding that you are having a hard time letting go of your stress and anxiety.  Take a moment and pray about it.  Tell Jesus and let him handle it because he can do a much better job than you can on your own.

Today’s Sermon at church- 4th week on Jonah

Today at church we had an amazing band play.  Our worship leader is a part of it and they were AMAZING! Then I stood up in front of the whole church and was inducted as a member.  It was awesome! ( I am using a lot of a words huh) And then Pastor Tim finished up a 4 week program on Jonah.  This week was on book 4 and was about Jonah being angry with God (there is that a word again) because he forgave the people of Nineveh after they repented in one day.  He thought that God should have punished them because they spent much more time being bad and not doing what God wanted then living for God. But God taught him that he should have pity for them and to not have selfish anger.  The only good and worthwhile anger is anger against ungodly like actions. 

Why waste your anger on selfish, unworthy reasons when you should really spend your time  looking for those that are being ungodly and show them compassion and show them the way.  It doesn’t matter what den0mination you are or what church you attend as long as you believe with all of your being and you attend church and live your life for God. 

So my kids lived through their first week of school

Ok so my kids made it through the first week of school.  I think I was more nervous then they where but we all lived through it.  I was most worried about Cayla going into 1st.  She is not one to sit still for very long and in 1st is when you have to start sitting still for long periods of time.  Her teacher seems nice and capable but the real test will be the first time Cayla has one of her super crazy tantrums. I am just waiting for the phone call (but hoping it never happens)  I am hoping we have a great year and everyone keeps on loving learning like they do.

I am going to start selling my homemade soap and beauty products

I have been making soap and homemade beauty products for a while. I have finally become comfortable with it enough to try and sell it online and at the local farmers market.  I decided on the name after asking the wonderful and creative peas from twopeas and Squillen came up with a name that I instantly liked and so I have been fooling around with making a logo.  This is what I came up with:

Some baking that I have done recently

I have been doing alot of baking lately (mainly because of the Back to School Birthday Party) and here are a few pictures of my masterpieces lol)

School is back in session!

Today was the first day back to school here and I do not know who was more excited, the kids or me! lol It was rainy out so had to drag the rain jackets out but they both made it to school in their new clothes with their new backpacks and all the millions of supplies that a 1st and 2nd grader need lol I took the annual first day of school pictures by the door.  Here they are:

I can not believe Cayla is in 1st grade and Nate is in 2nd! Where did the time go?!?!?! We had back to school night last night and it went very well even if it was a little chaotic.  Nate has the same teacher as he had last year so he was super excited to see her again along with all of his friends.  Cayla met her new teacher Ms. Okeefe and found her desk and explored the room.  I am hoping they both have a great first day!
